To Train Up A Child

Hi everyone! I've been out of the blog for a long time but I'm finally back! I wanted to recommend a book to all you parents of young kids out there that Chris and I are reading. It's called To Train Up a Child by Michael and Deb Pearl. It is not some new-fangled child raising theory. It's just the plain old common sense that somehow got lost in the generation of Freud and Dr. Spock. Here is an excerpt from the introduction:

"This book is not about discipline, nor problem children. The emphasis is on the training of a child before the need to discipline arises. It is apparent that, though they expect obedience, most parents never attempt to train their child to obey. They wait until his behavior becomes unbearable and then explode. These volumes are a compilation of a free newsletter they started in response to all the letters that they received and responded to from people who had read their book. The books only cost $4 each. I think it is interesting that the couple takes no royalties of profits from their books (in other words, they didn't write the book with the thought of "how could I make some money?").
