Sunday meditation

"The Church relives the mystery of Holy Thursday in light of the Resurrection," . This is from a sermon this week from Pope Benedict and what the church has proclaimed throughout all ages every Sunday for the last 2000 years. This is the center of our faith. Whether we are Catholic or Protestant, we believe that Jesus revealed to his disciples what he was going to do at the Last Supper on Thursday night before his death. Aren't these events are all tied mysteriously together---Israel's Passover meal, Jesus' completely new and radical invitation to partake of his body and blood in a new covenant, His entering into our suffering, sin, separation and death and carrying it to the Father, and three days later, his resurrection from the dead? These events are what join us all together and what will bring us together with Him forever in the next life. Our interpretation of the events may differ, but it is Him, acting for us that will prevail. Alleluia!
