I think our family blog is still a great way to communicate with each other. Even those of us who live in the Springs can use this venue to talk about current issues and whatever we would like to bat around. It's certainly a good way to keep in touch with Graham and Stephanie.
Okay, the politicizing of the New Orleans disaster is so out of control. I have been listening to both NPR and conservative talk radio, and it's almost alarming to me how basic facts of how things happened right after the hurricane are totally ignored in favor of emotional knee-jerk reactions. The federal government has poured more money into Louisiana for engineering projects since 1995 than any other state in the whole country, including California. Most of that money was not used as it was intended, for securing the levies and other important engineering projects, but ended up being siphoned off by the local government for other purposes.
I think some of what is going on with all the intense anger and blaming is that there was so much corruption on the local level that people are trying to direct the attention instead to the federal government.
What do the rest of you think?
